From paid parental leave to childcare assistance, top organisations today are advocating for gender-neutral employee benefits.
Working Mother, the US magazine for career-committed women, has unveiled the year’s “100 Best Companies” spearheading this change.
For 2018, consumer goods company Unilever topped the list as it offers 16 weeks of paid maternity and eight weeks of paid paternity leave; reimbursements for fertility procedures; mentoring programs; telecommuting; and sabbatical leaves.
All of the top 10 performers provide an average of 15 weeks of paid maternity leave; phase-back programs for new mothers returning to work; and special arrangements for remote work.
The overall selection recognises organisations that advance “not only woman-friendly but parent-friendly” policies, benefits, career advancement programs, and flexible work arrangements, the publication said.
This year, 18% of the entries offer the same number of weeks of paid maternity and paternity leaves.
“By offering flexible schedules, paid parental leave, post-leave phase-back periods, adoption and surrogacy financial assistance, and mentoring programs, these companies address working parents’ and caregivers’ needs head-on, and help them succeed at work and home,” said Meredith Bodgas, editor-in-chief of Working Mother.
