At the 2023 Canadian HR Awards, Peninsula Canada was recognized as Canadian HR Team of the Year (Fewer Than 500 Employees).

In this panel discussion, HRD journalist Lauren Johnson spoke with Mujda Rasoul, Peninsula’s VP of Service, and Olivia Cicchini, HR and Employment Law expert, about what makes Peninsula Canada stand out.

Diversity among their own team is an important starting point, said Mujda.

“We’ve been operating over 40 years globally, and operating over 6 years in the Canadian market. Our HR and our health and safety experts have a diverse background, from dealing with HR and health and safety in the retail industry all the way to construction, and every industry in between,” said Rasoul.

Cicchini named legal compliance as one of the key challenges she sees facing businesses in Canada today, especially for small businesses.

“I think it’s a common misconception among small business owners that if you’re family owned and operated, or if you only have a couple employees, you don’t need to comply with the same rules and regulations as larger companies,” Cicchini explained.

“However, this isn’t true. But because of this, we see a lot of gaps in their documentation.”
