Purolator Inc.

Canadian HR Awards 2021

Best Learning & Development Strategy

Purolator values the health and safety of our employees and the communities we serve. With the global pandemic shifting to virtual learning environments, and the increasing demand for transportation and courier services, Purolator needed to successfully onboard a largely skilled-based staff — quickly, safely and effectively to keep the Canadian economy and supply chain moving. In one of the largest onboarding efforts in Purolator’s history, the team virtually trained 3,845 new employees in a single year through 67,101 hours of virtual instructor-led content. Purolator saw a reduction in injuries, achieving our lowest number of injury incidents in history. It’s a testament to the focus we place on our health and safety culture, and the impact of safety training. “Purolator is driven by people — we’re committed to supporting our team by investing in training and development programs as well as mental and physical wellness,” says Ken Johnston, Senior Vice President, People and Culture. “In the midst of a global pandemic, our teams were able to quickly move from our traditional learning methods to effectively meet the new needs of our employees, including thousands of new team members, to help ensure we could successfully deliver for Canadians.”Purolator proudly accepted the award from HRD Canada, and we’re committed to support training programs, developing new staff and utilizing new technology to keep our workplace and our people safe.
