KPMG pays for employees to sit CPA exam

Over 200 new hires at KPMG have been enrolled in the company's newest programme that will pay them to study for their Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam. KPMG said in an announcement that 225 new hires have signed up for its KPMG CPA Kickstart, a two-month programme that will grant new hires the time so they can focus on the most difficult portions of the exam.

These new hires will also enjoy compensation and full benefits while preparing for the test, according to the KPMG, and will receive additional support for completion of the final parts of the CPA exam once they begin client work.

The programme will be held for 40 hour a week in a two-month period and will be facilitated by KPMG and a third-party review course.

According to KPMG, the programme aims to alleviate the burden on exam-takers who may be constrained by time in preparing for their CPA test.

"Auditors are constrained without their CPA, and studying nights and weekends, can be a difficult, frustrating experience," said Becky Sproul, Talent and Culture Leader – Audit, in a statement.

"Our programme will provide extensive support in passing the CPA exam while adding top talent to our engagement teams."

The programme also aims to improve KPMG's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, according to Scott Flynn, Vice Chair – Audit.

"We are committed to delivering a better audit experience for our people and our clients, fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce to drive innovation and sustain audit quality," said Flynn.

"KPMG CPA Kickstart opens doors to students from a less traditional academic path or smaller program providing them the opportunity to focus on passing the CPA exam while compensated."

The KPMG CPA Kickstart will kick-off this summer in the company's 35 offices.
