Now in its 12th year, the Canadian HR Awards are once again gearing up to celebrate the innovation, leadership and dedication of HR professionals and teams from coast to coast. Presented by HRD Canada in partnership with Canadian HR Reporter, this annual gala shines a national spotlight on the people and programs driving organizational success through strategic people practices.

Nominations are open until May 30, 2025 (11:59 PM ET), and all entries will be reviewed by an expert panel before the winners are announced at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on September 18, 2025.

Why enter the Canadian HR Awards?

Submitting your initiatives and leaders for consideration not only raises your organization’s profile but also gives your team a chance to be recognized among Canada’s top HR industry leaders. Past winners have leveraged this platform to showcase their achievements—last year, KPMG Canada earned acclaim for its employer‐branding efforts, while Prospera Credit Union was lauded for its engaging, employee-centred communications strategy.

This year’s Awards encompass more than 20 distinct honours that reflect the full spectrum of HR excellence. Categories include:

  • Individual Awards

    • Canadian HR Leader of the Year

    • Canadian HR Champion (CEO)

    • HR Rising Star of the Year

    • Woman of Distinction

  • Company & Team Awards

    • Best Workplace Culture

    • Best Talent Management Strategy

    • Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion

    • Most Innovative Use of HR Technology or AI

    • Canadian HR Team of the Year (500+ employees)

    • Canadian HR Team of the Year (fewer than 500 employees)

    • Sector-specific Team Awards (e.g., Finance/Insurance, Retail/Hospitality)

Entering is simple and free. Visit the official HR Awards portal before the May 30 deadline and complete the nomination form, detailing the impact, creativity and measurable results of your program or leadership. If selected as a finalist, you’ll receive an invitation to join your peers at the Awards Gala on September 18, where you can network with fellow HR professionals, celebrate successes and draw inspiration for your own people strategies.
