Inside Fidelity's award-winning culture and commitment to employees

Fidelity Investments was recently recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Canada—a powerful reflection of its values-driven culture and commitment to its people. In a recent interview with HRD TV, Diana Godfrey, Senior Vice President at Fidelity Investments, revealed why the firm stands out as a workplace of choice.

“It’s the people. Honestly, I think we’re very fortunate that the organization has a set of values that we all feel aligned to—our integrity, trust, and collaboration. Because of that, our employees feel valued, feel part of the organization’s success, and see their connection to clients.”

At Fidelity, career development isn’t a perk—it’s a priority. With tailored programs for each business unit, thousands of on-demand courses, tuition reimbursement, and conference opportunities, employees are empowered to build their skills and their future.

“It’s about building capability, but also removing the fear of the unknown,” Godfrey said. “We really have a culture of continuous learning.”

From company-wide town halls to one-on-one conversations and its internal Insight platform, Fidelity ensures employees are heard at every level.

“By having all of those lines of communication open—and all of them two-way—we hope that our employees feel heard, but also that they’re hearing from us.”

Fidelity’s wellbeing strategy goes beyond flexible hybrid work. With mental health first aiders, expanded counseling coverage, fertility and gender affirmation support, and a holistic approach to employee wellness, the company is committed to meeting the unique needs of its people.

“We don’t want people to feel that mental health is different from physical health,” said Godfrey.

For Fidelity, being named a Best Workplace is especially rewarding because it comes directly from employee feedback.

“When our employees say the programs work for them, it’s special. It gives our clients confidence too—because when employees are happy, it’s a safe place to do business.”
