Canada’s Wonderland, Playland hiring ahead of summer season

Canada’s Wonderland and Playland are both looking to fill open positions ahead of the rush of people for summer fun this year.

Ahead of its opening on May 3, Canada’s Wonderland is looking to hire 4,000 seasonal and full-time workers at its Vaughan, Ont. amusement park, according to a CTV report.

Applicants are welcome to apply for roles in the departments of operations, food and beverage, lifeguard, security, park services and more.

“We’re proud to offer a fun and rewarding place to work,” Phil Liggett, general manager of Canada’s Wonderland, said in a press release, according to the report. “Whether it be for a summer job, a position to kick-start a career or an enjoyable part-time placement after retirement, we have something for everyone.”

Cedar Fair Entertainment, Canada’s Wonderland’s parent company, is running the summer hiring blitz.

Overall, Cedar Fair plans to hire approximately 35,000 seasonal associates across its network of U.S. and Canadian parks for the 2024 season, according to CTV News.

Recently, PepsiCo also announced it plans to hire about 800 seasonal workers this year.

Playland hiring summer jobs in Vancouver

Playland is also hiring for over 200 workers at its Vancouver. 

Ahead of Playland’s official opening in May, parent company PNE is welcoming applicants for a variety of teams, including those responsible for rides, games, Playland maintenance, guest experience and food and beverage, according to Daily Hive.

Many of the open positions require applicants to be at least 15 years old by April 1, 2024. These positions include candy runner, games attendant, and Playland BBQ grill cook, according to the report.

And their pay will be above the minimum wage, reported the Daily Hive. Playland’s wages start at $18.43, including base pay of $16.75 per hour, and 10% additional pay in lieu of vacation and other benefits.

Also, employees have a chance to receive gift card rewards throughout the season. And PNE is offering training and development for team members to learn new skills and gain valuable work experience, with some roles coming with opportunities for promotions and position transfers.

Interested parties can submit their resumes to the company before March 10.

PNE employs approximately 3,500 employees, according to its website.

Previously, employers like Citigroup, UPS and Levi Strauss announced they are cutting down their workforce numbers.

Overall job vacancies in Canada edged up to 653,000 in November 2023, according to a previous report from Statistics Canada (StatCan).
