HRD Talk podcast series: Top 3 things to offer job candidates for increased talent recruitment

Talent recruitment continues to be a huge challenge for HR professionals, with a historic unemployment rate, 11 million job openings and employees who aren’t afraid to jump ship for better offers. To be competitive in this market, HR leaders need to re-evaluate their employee value proposition.

HRD Talk sat down with Tiffany Haley, head of global talent at Vanguard, to find out what her top recommendations for employers are, to offer candidates in this highly competitive talent market.

Her tips aren’t brand new, she said, but they have been elevated to top priority in recent years.

“Candidates are looking to be values-aligned with their future employer. In particular, I think people are asking themselves about how they want to spend their time and their careers,” she said. “Another thing that we're hearing from candidates is that, more than ever, they want to feel valued and supported as a whole person.”

Other areas of focus are mental health supports, holistic benefits, and financial wellness:

“We've made some funds available to our crew … that allows them to pick from several different options on how they want to use the benefit, things that make the home life easier to manage, such as housekeeping, some people have taken advantage of that option… The whole thing was about optionality and flexibility and choice to increase your overall wellness.”

To hear more of Haley’s tips and how she thinks the job market affects talent recruitment, listen to the whole conversation and the rest of our series at HRD Talk.
