GHD appoints Danielle Huffman to lead people strategy across Americas

GHD has announced the appointment of Danielle Huffman as People Leader for GHD Americas and USA.

She will now oversee human resources for 4,500 professionals across more than 130 offices in the U.S., Canada, and Chile.

Huffman joins GHD after nearly 12 years at WSP USA, where she most recently served as Senior Vice President of HR.

“When I joined WSP as an ambitious early career professional, I would have never imagined I’d be leaving 11 years later experiencing such tremendous professional growth. It’s hard to imagine another period of my life being more transformative, both professionally and personally,” she said on LinkedIn.

“While I’m really proud of my accomplishments at WSP, what stands out most about my time there is a simple consistent theme in my life; it’s the people.”

GHD committed to people-first leadership

Chris Hunter, GHD CEO – Americas, said in a release that Huffman “brings a combination of strategic vision, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to people-first leadership.

“Her experience leading large-scale HR transformations and her collaborative approach make her the ideal leader to guide our people function through the next phase of growth.”

GHD’s Americas region now represents 40% of the company’s global workforce, and the company has recently been recognized as a top employer in both Canada and the U.S. GHD is a professional services company operating in the global markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation. Its network of 11,000+ professionals are connected across 160 offices located on five continents.

Pride in HR career

Huffman holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration in Human Resource Management and Finance from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and more recently attained an MBA from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania.

She started as an HR coordinator at WPS back in 2014, and in leaving the company in 2025, said on LinkedIn that she has been amazed by the level of support and appreciation she has received.

“I have been humbled to hear how I’ve helped influence others to have the confidence to grow their own careers, bet on themselves, be great parents and be authentic.

“Turns out my greatest achievement at WSP wasn’t ever a title or something I did, but rather having the opportunity to partner with so many talented people. I am excited about what’s to come but for now, to those that have shared the WSP journey and their lives with me, thank you.”
