Your workers are focused on productivity and learning – but what do they want from you?

A new survey shows Canadian’s workplace New Year resolutions, and the changes they’re hoping to see from employers

Tis the season to rethink priorities and decide on some New Year resolutions, some more realistic than others – lose 10 pounds, write a novel, pay off your debt. Almost a quarter of employees (24%) say they’re aiming to improve their organization and productivity in the new year.

The BMO Bank of Montreal survey found other top results included aiming to learning a new workplace skill (23%), and networking or collaborating (22%).

It’s all good news for HR, if your workers can manage to follow through, but what do they want from you?

Asked to suggest their wish list for changes their bosses should make 23% of workers just wanted to be heard with “listen to workers more closely” topping the list. Two-way communication was obviously a high priority with communicating performance expectations and instructions more clearly coming second (10%) and an upgrade on office equipment getting just 8% of votes – although the Atlanta provinces might want to pay a bit more attention as 12% of their workers said equipment was their top concern.
