Workers severely burned in explosion

Health and safety officers investigate explosion at Alberta waste disposal company.

Two workers have been severely burned in an explosion at an industrial park south of Edmonton.

The injured employees work for Clean Harbors, an industrial services and hazardous waste business in Leduc, according to the RCMP.

Emergency personnel responded to a fire at the business about 6am this morning, with paramedics, RCMP and Fire on the scene. The workers were taken to a nearby hospital with severe burns, but are in stable condition.

Investigators found a fire in the business had led to an explosion, injuring two workers.

Alberta health and safety officers and RCMP are investigating the incident. The fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature. 

Company officials were not available for comment.
