Top jobs: HR manager drops on list, still in top 50

Think you hate your job sometimes? Just be glad you’re not a lumberjack!Human Resources Manager has made it to the top quarter of a new best/worst jobs list

Everyone has good work days and bad, but if a new list is anything to go by HR Managers are doing better than average when it comes to their choice of profession.

The CareerCast.com list ranked 200 jobs from best to worst based on physical demands, work environment, income, stress and hiring outlook – and there were some surprises.

Human Resources Manager dropped from last year, when it was the third best job, but it maintains a respectable place at #31 – nestled between science and medicine roles including meteorologist and orthodontist.

29 Meteorologist
30 Geologist
31 Human Resources Manager
32 Civil Engineer
33 Orthodontist

As for best and worst? Actuary improved its place from second to first – the high pay and good hiring outlook made it a winner.

In a surprise switch from last year, Newspaper Reporter stole last place from Lumberjack. Apparently the poor hiring outlook made up for the lack of physical demands.

1 Actuary
2 Biomedical Engineer
3 Software Engineer
4 Audiologist
5 Financial Planner
196 Oil Rig Worker
197 Actor
198 Enlisted Military Personnel
