How to make quality hires in 2023

Is your business sacrificing quality for a quick hire? Expert discusses hiring trends, and how to find top-fit candidates

How to make quality hires in 2023

2023 is set to be an exciting year for hiring. With the economic and labor market turmoil of the last few years, companies are now experiencing a “dramatic need” for higher quality - quality new hires, quality practices, and quality technology.

According to Modern Hire managing director Matt Goff, businesses now need to be strategic about the way they hire, rather than reactive. Focusing on quality over a ‘quick hire’ will produce better, longer term results, and will avoid disengaged workers who aren’t suited to the role.

“Many companies have had trouble finding qualified, motivated workers, and many workers have been re-evaluating what they want out of their jobs,” Goff says.

“Businesses have frequently lowered the bar on who they will hire, and this is now leading to lower business performance. So the big challenges in 2023 will be bringing the focus back to quality – hiring not just a warm body, but a well-qualified, top-fit candidate.”

Modern Hire will discuss quality of hires, and how to stem the tide of turnovers, disengagement, and “quiet quitting” in its upcoming webinar – Hiring Trends for 2023: The Flight to Quality.

It will also talk about using ethical AI and automation in the hiring process, and how the “intelligent interview” can provide the new key to hiring success.

Goff says that if a business is crying out for people, it needs to think strategically to get ahead of the demand. This means putting long-term systems and policies in place to support quality hiring, and thinking about how HR technology can help enhance the process.

“This includes positioning your company as a desirable place to work, which goes beyond marketing and gets at culture, leadership vision, career pathing, and more,” he says.

“Proactive and forward-looking businesses have a lot of great options for how to build highly effective talent acquisition operations. There has never been a better time to embrace strategic, science-driven, high tech HR tools!”

Modern Hire will be sharing its research-based perspective of how organisations can do a better job of hiring in 2023, and will provide concrete examples of best practices.
