Being a manager has never been an easy job, and so they must acquire some superpowers to do their job successfully, according to the Queen's University Industrial Relations Centre (IRC).

“While some are born for leadership, most people don’t receive the proper training or knowledge to effectively lead, manage different personalities, and navigate conflicts,” said Queen's University IRC in its white paper titled Five Superpowers Every Manager Needs.

The comprehensive white paper – available here for free – delves into the five managerial superpowers. These superpowers are critical in building healthier relationships and increasing productivity, the Queen's University IRC said.

The white paper provides insights on:

  • The importance of self-awareness when being an effective and respected manager
  • Key strategies for managing change and leading your team through transitions
  • Setting the stage for team culture by taking ownership
  • Understanding how you deal with conflict, its effect, and the key styles for conflict management
  • Managing people and different personalities. (If you don’t have this superpower, your other superpowers won’t be as effective as they could be.)

Workers’ happiness level did not change in February compared with the previous month, according to an ADP Canada report. The National Work Happiness Score for February 2024 was 6.7/10, just as it was in January.

Navigating human relationships is the key to managerial success, and employers and managers can find the right combination of things to gain that success.
