Benefits disrupter hires senior Sun Life exec
The new insurance platform backed by a bevy of Canadian heavyweights has announced today the appointment of Lori Casselman, former Sun Life exec.

LEAGUE – which bills itself as the digital alternative to traditional health insurance – has Casselman as its chief health officer, a newly created role for the up-and-coming organization.

“Lori is the perfect addition to our team and we’re excited to have someone with her experience help us further develop our professional network and support the creation of new programs,” said Michael Serbinis, CEO of LEAGUE.

“Her background, coupled with her unique point of view on health benefits, makes her an amazing addition to the LEAGUE portfolio,” he added. “We’re lucky to have her.”

Casselman joins the benefits disrupter following an extended run at Sun Life Financial where she held several executive roles including assistant VP of integrated health solutions, assistant VP of practice excellence & innovation, and assistant VP of health & wellness.

“The healthcare system needs a multidisciplinary, consumer-oriented approach to address prevention, education and treatment opportunities,” said Casselman.

“Technology can enable and empower consumers to understand and manage their own health in ways we have yet to imagine, and there is tremendous potential to change the traditional landscape of health benefits,” she added.
