In the age of the hot-desking, ‘always on’, mobile device clutching workforce multiple electronic channels are de rigeur. Warrick Glynn questions whether this is the best way to communicate, particularly when the message is sensitive or unpalatable.

We live in an age of information overload, where we are inundated by email and sms notifications and reminders - a world in which many employees are now asked to communicate with their supervisor by email even when the supervisor is just across the room.

A little more face-to-face between managers and employees and/or team leaders and their team members would - perhaps - make them best friends forever also, and - perhaps - reduce some work-related stress and consequent employee turnover.
    Just a thought...

A colleague emails you a question or a request and there's ambiguity about what they require. Now YOU have to follow it up. Wouldn't it have been more sensible, more pleasant and more productive if they had walked into your office or over to your desk instead?
