Incentive is a US-based publication devoted to employee motivation and performance improvement through the use of incentive programs. With a clever niche market of advertisers, both the Incentive magazine and website have the potential to come across as a corporate sales guide to employee incentives and gifts.

Fortunately, both include a number of practical resources for HR and remuneration & benefit professionals. The website is a cut-down online reproduction of the magazine, with sections for headlines, motivation basics, reports & analysis and in-depth features. Topics covered include ethics in the workplace, measuring ROI on employee incentives and incentive schemes on tight budgets. Articles in the current edition look at the 100 top motivators and the link between attrition and motivation.

Admirably, the Incentive site keeps advertising and editorial pretty much separate, with a ‘business resources’ section dedicated to advertisers seeking exposure in the corporate incentive market.

Navigating the site is reasonably hassle-free, but the site tends to list a minimum of information, and the features search engine is needed to dig deeper into its archives. While a few broken links between images and pages also disrupt browsing, design is clear and easy to follow.
