Inspirational Leaders: The Secrets to Motivate and Empower Your Team

Employee burnout is having a corrosive influence on both workplace morale and productivity. The question for leaders during this difficult time is how they can motivate and empower their teams in a way that improves individual well-being while maximising the company’s competitiveness.

A leading expert on leadership will unlock some of the secrets behind these leadership skills in a webinar discussion on 19th April 2023. The talk, Inspirational Leaders: The Secrets to Motivate and Empower Your Team, will feature Karlie Cremin, Managing Director at DLPA, a Sydney-based provider of bespoke solutions to business leaders.

Burned out

“We are hearing almost uniformly that people are much busier now, with no discernible increase in output,” Cremin says. “On top of this, you have challenges involving the mix of different personalities, communication in hybrid and remote work, trust in leadership, and a general failure to provide enough clarity, recognition and quality resources.

“All of these factors contribute to an environment where people can end up feeling unmotivated and disempowered.”

How can HR respond?

Cremin says companies can address these issues with some specific and proactive solutions that target morale and ensure employees remain motivated.

“This includes a deep dive into communication to create consistent messaging, building a culture of trust, setting clear and attainable goals, recognising great performance, and being realistic about resource requirements,” she says.

Lessons learned

Drawing upon her experiences over the last two challenging years, Cremin says she’s learned some key lessons.

“Positive change is not something that happens very well organically. It needs strategic action to really make it work well.”

Cremin also highlights the impact of declining morale on the bottom line. Whereas a positive workplace culture used to be considered a ‘fluffy’ nice-to-have, leaders now realise that unempowered employees are less productive and a significant factor in productivity and overall corporate performance.

“Most organisations can see the pain and cost caused by a demotivated and unempowered team. There is a lot of movement now to create a culture that really differentiates your organisation and positions you for success.”
