The company cite challenges in economic environment as reason for business-wide review
In-office roles are set to be impacted at Australia’s largest aged care provider – with economic challenges cited as the reason for a business-wide review of practices.
In a statement, seen by HRD, a Bupa spokesperson quoted the need to support the long-term sustainability of the private health sector – and as a result, are looking at ways to reduce costs.
“By becoming more efficient, we want to create a sustainable organisation that’s better placed to deliver for our customers and our people,” the statement reads.
The result of this review, the organisation state, means some office-based roles will be lost – but there will be no impact to customer or patient-facing roles, Bupa emphasises.
“These are difficult decisions that are not taken lightly, and we’re committed to treating our people with empathy and respect as we navigate through this process with them.”
“We’re providing a range of support options to help affected people when and where they need it including redeployment and career guidance.”
Several publications quote the number of jobs lost range between 150 and 600 staff – HRD have contacted Bupa directly and they were not able to confirm an exact number but refute the allegations of a large number of job losses.
