Will technology really lead to job losses?

It's no secret that employees are getting more and more concerned for their jobs in the wake of the implementation of generative AI in workplaces.

Generative AI, which has seen rapid development over the past years, has been touted as a looming major disruption to millions of roles across the world.

But employers cannot deny the positive impact of generative AI and similar technologies to productivity and overall organisational success.

In fact, a new white paper from Randstad Singapore acknowledges that embracing and leveraging AI is "now imperative in the world of work."

"Companies often find themselves in a dilemma, torn between encouraging employees to steer their careers and treading cautiously to avoid overly disruptive shifts in work and learning dynamics," the white paper reads.

So, how can employers navigate the integration of AI without leading to too much disruption?

"Technology will lead to job losses only if we allow it to happen," the Randstad whitepaper read. "Embracing these exciting opportunities holds the key to finding a balance between human expertise and technology."

Implementing technology at work

Companies can implement this tech by using talent insights to find better ways to succeed, according to the white paper.

"This involves skill mapping for future needs, identifying high-potential talent, and keeping an eye on industry trends," it read.

Business leaders should also be aware of how technologies are transforming to adapt digital tools and applications to their own operations.

"This helps companies make data-driven decisions to reduce turnover and remain ahead of the game," the paper read.

For employees, the report said those who are willing to upskill and learn to use this tech could change their fears of AI taking over their jobs into an opportunity, according to the white paper.

Randstad Singapore further delved into skills development, among other topics in the white paper. Grab your own copy now using this link.
