In pursuit of its vision to create a high-performing and high-engagement workforce in one of its biggest future markets, in August 2016, the HR team for Beam Suntory Emerging Asia embarked on an accelerated project to launch a completely new organization, office and workforce in just one year. This entailed laborious efforts by the team to study the industry, assess and work within strict labor regulations, while keeping tabs on continuing market changes. It also involved extensive work in reorganization, with the team working hard to retain as many people as possible from the old organization by assessing and retraining them to fit the new organization's needs. Out of the existing 40 employees, most were successfully transitioned. Another 30 employees were added through different networks, referrals, agencies, and a job portal.
Since its launch in July 2017, new office Beam Suntory China has step-changed the business to become the fastest growing player in China's international spirits industry for 2017. The aim is to double the company's combined NSV in 2018. This achievement is testament to the HR team's contribution within the past year, not only to setting up new operations but also to the overall transformation of the organization.
