Understanding employee experience

EX is not a fixed state, but an evolving process that will be key to any employee's journey at an organisation

Understanding employee experience

HR professionals are having to rethink their employee experience (EX) to keep up with the constantly evolving external context, according to Fiona Scullion, Lead People Scientist at Culture Amp.

But how do you evolve your approach and provide an impactful EX that accounts for what is now a blended workforce (from those working remotely through to those who have to be on the frontline or in the office)?

“Creating a credible employee experience is more important than ever, as we navigate our way through the new world of work,” Scullion told HRD.

“Recent months have taught us that anything is possible when it comes to ways of working.”

Indeed, Culture Amp will be partnering with HRD on an upcoming webinar on Understanding employee experience.

Scullion said that being agile is key to understanding what an EX means and how that can change quickly with the influences of the outside world.

“Let people be where they are and engage in their own experience - being mindful and empathetic that everyone’s experience is very different right now,” said Scullion.

Irrespective of how you define your EX, Scullion said that the underpinning principles should be the same.

“It's about the individual first, culture and then purpose in their work and career,” added Scullion.

“So continuing to focus on wellbeing, flexible working and understanding that EX is not a fixed state but an evolving process will be key to any employee's journey at an organisation.”

The webinar will include insights from two leaders - Lyndall Strachan, Head of Employee Experience at Nine and Roxanne Stauss, General Manager - People, Culture and Transformation at DPV Health - who are using feedback to constantly evolve their employee experience in an ever changing world.

The Culture Amp webinar will take place on Friday 28 August, and will cover the following points:

• How can feedback help inform the key moments that matter?

• How does this align with critical priorities like wellbeing/resilience, remote working and inclusion?

• How do we avoid ‘going back to the ways things were’ for your people?

• Finally, how will your employee experience help retain your people in the future?
