I am currently a training consultant manager for a large publishing company in Sydney and was recently given the opportunity to road test master NLP practitioner and trainer Pip McKay’s Money Matrix workshop. Why would a training manager want to attend a workshop called The Money Matrix? Despite the name, the course is based on Neuro Linguistic Programming. Two different events compelled me to find out about Pip Mckay and her workshops.

As a workplace trainer I sometimes outsource training programs to different providers. Recently I outsourced some sales training and after many dealings with the trainer, she told me how she had just done the most fantastic and powerful course of her life, and how she was already noticing a huge shift in her facilitation skills and business dealings. The course she had done was based on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

The second event that compelled me to hunt this woman down was that I was pitching for a training contract with an internationally renowned organisation and the mandatory requirement was that facilitators must be NLP trained as the material had been designed to be NLP congruent. So there it was again. Consequently I was unsuccessful in my pitch this time, but was asked to contact them again once I had NLP qualifications. So this is where my journey began.

What is NLP and why is it so great? Neuro refers to the mind and the brain and how the two interact with the body. Linguistics is language. NLP is the ultimate communication tool, making you an expert in both verbal and non-verbal language. As a result, NLP greatly enhances your ability to learn, train, manage and negotiate, making it an extraordinary resource for those in business, sales, education and therapy. NLP also explores the symbolic language of the unconscious mind, allowing practitioners to access more of the enormous potential of our hidden mental and emotional resources.

Programming is the habits of thought you have that lead to habits of behaviour and how to change them rapidly, effectively and for profound and lasting change.

According to Pip, more and more companies are recognising the power of NLP to increase performance and how it is transforming the way they operate. Firstly, in terms of having the state of mind to motivate and train teams, resolve conflicts easily and overcome procrastination. Secondly to increase their teams performance to provide superior customer satisfaction, therefore significantly increasing sales revenues.

After a few conversations with Pip, she understood my motive for wanting to become accredited in NLP and was able to then match my needs to her workshops. While the Money Matrix course would not leave me an accredited NLP practitioner, it was a good taster of what NLP has to offer. She guaranteed that I would definitely notice results in my professional and personal life.

The Money Matrix course was about clearing blockages that I can now see were inhibitors to my success both professionally and personally. Since completing the workshop, I have been having huge success with facilitating workshops, getting awesome feedback results from the participants, and their peers have noticed a vast improvement in their performance since attending training.

‘Clearing blockages’ sounds all spooky, new age, even a bit threatening, but it was logical, structured and a very simple process. Simply put, it connects the conscious mind with the unconscious mind and puts them in sync. Sometimes we act differently from that with which we feel comfortable, or our results do not mirror what we perceive our true beliefs to be. So when you understand what the beliefs in your unconscious mind are, it follows that your conscious actions will have more determination and conviction. This is an extremely powerful process that I can see would benefit many organisations in changing behaviours and dealing with culture issues.

Pip’s next workshop, which I will certainly be attending, is The Business Matrix on 18, 19 and 20 November 2005. The three-day program allows you to apply ‘Secrets of Selling to the Subconscious Mind’ to create your own powerful marketing, sales and communication strategies.
