HR leader lauded for 'tireless service to Westpac and its people'
Westpac Group Executive for Human Resources, Christine Parker, is retiring after nearly two decades with the financial services firm.
Westpac CEO Peter King announced Parker's retirement in a statement on Tuesday.
"I thank her for her tireless service to Westpac and its people. I wish her all the very best as she takes on this next chapter building her portfolio career," King said in a statement.
Parker worked at Westpac for 17 years, starting as a General Manager for People at Westpac New Zealand in 2007.
She later transitioned to the company's Sydney office in 2011 to take on the Group Executive, Human Resources, position.
"Christine has been a valued mentor and leader for generations of Westpac employees," King said. "I've valued Christine's wise counsel, advice, and support for many years, as have other CEOs before me."
The CEO also lauded Parker for being a "passionate advocate" for women in the workforce and for her work as chair of the St George Foundation.
"[She] has driven positive change for our female leaders both personally and professionally. Christine has also helped drive significant change to our culture," King said.
"As Chair of the St. George Foundation, she has supported small, local charities helping to create brighter futures for children and young people."
Parker will continue to hold her role until Westpac finalises the search for her successor, Westpac said, in order to ensure a smooth transition for the position.
