Westpac recently launched a web-based staffing management initiative for its 26,000 staff. Called Careers@Westpac, the tool is designed to assist Westpac managers in offering available jobs to existing employees before canvassing the open market to fill a vacant role

Westpac recently launched a web-based staffing management initiative for its 26,000 staff. Called Careers@Westpac, the tool is designed to assist Westpac managers in offering available jobs to existing employees before canvassing the open market to fill a vacant role. It also encourages employees to profile themselves on the system to search for roles that match their skills and interests and receive alerts for upcoming jobs. Built around Taleo Corporation’s Enterprise Staffing Management solution, the system went live on 1 November 2004 following a successful pilot.

Telecom NZ and AAPT deploy Aspen LMS

Telecom NZ and AAPT recently implemented the Aspen learning management system (LMS) as part of a three-week blended learning solution combining e-learning with on-the-job mentoring. Named Excelerate, the solution is designed to improve channel effectiveness by delivering more consistent training across retail outlets, so that frontline staff are better able to help customers with Telecom mobile packages and products. More than 4,000 Telecom staff and 3,000 frontline retail staff will be trained through the initiative, while a further 1,000 e-learning licences have also been purchased to train staff at Telecom’s subsidiary in Australia, AAPT.

Impart merges with QANTM Studio

Learning solutions integrator Impart Corporation recently merged with Queensland-based e-learning content and simulation developer QANTM Studio, creating one of the largest learning solutions providers in the Asia-Pacific region. Impart provides learning products and services including strategy design and execution, instructional design, learning content development and LMS, while QANTM Studio’s business lines include e-learning, e-business, website design, digital marketing, intranet design and construction and online games production. The merger has more than doubled QANTM’s multimedia content and simulation development capacity and also created two ISO 9001 quality assured production facilities.
