NZ employee engagement rose 5% during COVID-19 pandemic

It’s more good news for Kiwi employers

NZ employee engagement rose 5% during COVID-19 pandemic

We may have just come through a pandemic, but employee engagement in New Zealand has stayed strong.

A recent report from Peakon found that during the height of the COVID-19 chaos, employee engagement actually improved – rising by over five percent.

“The rise in employee engagement shows New Zealand workplaces using Peakon have listened to their workers and acted decisively during COVID-19 to ensure their employees are supported on critical workplace indicators that matte,” added Luke Amundson, Peakon’s APAC director.

“Peakon’s research shows that when employees feel heard, supported and feel as though they have enough opportunities to learn and develop at work, they are empowered and motivated to help drive business forward. Kiwi companies will reap the benefits of this now and into the future.”

What’s more, Kiwi employees claim that their mental health was properly safeguarded by employers during the pandemic. Working environment scores also improved by 7.3% in NZ – well above the global average of six percent.

“It is evident once again that, when it comes to business leadership, knowledge is power,” continued Amundson.

“Real-time insights such as those garnered from our employee surveys have been crucial throughout the crisis and will continue to be as organisations move into the next phase of workplace transformation.”
