Australian organisations are employing strategic applications to attract and develop staff and such systems will continue to develop over the next three years, according to a recent Cedar/AHRI 2004 Workforce Technology Survey. Recruitment, training enrolment, staff development and workforce analytics are currently the most commonly employed strategic applications today, while the most common barriers to HR technology success include inadequate budget/funding (15 per cent), lack of HRMS infrastructure (11 per cent) and an inadequate business case (10 per cent).

Accenture forms alliance with Frontier Software

Accenture and Frontier Software recently announced an alliance to offer HR outsourcing services in the Australian market. The alliance combines Accenture’s global HR services business processing outsourcing capability with Frontier’s chris21 HR software. The outsourcing solution is serviced from Accenture’ s HR service centre based in Melbourne, and will enable organisations to avoid upfront costs such as software licence and upgrade fees or implementation costs through paying a single monthly fee. Under the alliance, solutions will be available for attracting potential applicants, performance management, rewards, and assisting them employees with post employment needs.

Hewitt provides payroll for Sony Electronics

Hewitt Associates recently announced it will provide payroll services to Sony Electronics and its 11,000 US employees. Since 1997, Hewitt has provided Sony with benefits outsourcing services such as 401(k) administration and annual health plan enrolments as well as workforce management services, such as workforce and compensation administration. Under the new agreement Hewitt will extend these services to include payroll services such as payroll processing and maintenance. Sony expects greater efficiencies as a result of integrating its payroll with HR and benefits services as well as increased focus on other areas of core business.
