Deliveroo launches mental health workshops for riders

Food delivery company Deliveroo held a series of workshops for its riders this week in a bid to highlight the importance of mental health. Deliveroo Singapore partnered with mental health advocacy organisation Silver Ribbon to organise the Rider Stress Management workshops on October 21 and 22. The workshops covered different topics, including teaching riders the importance of mental health, identifying stress and burnout, as well as providing valuable tips and skills on managing stress and challenging situations. It also shared to riders various ways to seek mental health-related help.

According to a media release, close to 50 Deliveroo riders attended the workshop, who were also encouraged to ask about their personal experiences and seek advice on managing delivery work and personal lives. Deliveroo stressed that the workshops are the company's way to honour its commitment on providing a positive and health working environment for its riders.

"We are very heartened to partner Deliveroo in organising this series of mental wellness workshops for their riders as their mental wellbeing matters too," said Silver Ribbon executive director Porsche Poh in a statement.

"It is helpful for them to recognise warning signs, manage their stress and know where to seek help and cope with their struggles. We hope that more firms will come forward to initiate similar initiatives in order to build a mentally friendly and healthy community," Poh added.

Sarah Tan, general manager of Deliveroo Singapore, said that 90% of its riders are satisfied and very satisfied with the company, a reflection of the company's initiatives for its riders.

"In these challenging times, we understand the importance of mental health and are delighted that many of our riders found the workshops useful. We are encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive reception and will explore opportunities to turn it into a long-term initiative for our riders," said Tan in a statement.
