HRD NZ Rising Stars 2022 winners revealed

HRD New Zealand is proud to present this year's Rising Stars - the most outstanding HR professionals who were able to show up and stand out in the HR industry despite less than a decade of service. This year, we're recognising 16 Rising Stars, each of which has shown promise of becoming future leaders in an industry hit with of talent shortages and disruption.

Their most powerful weapon: passion for the profession. Jessica Hayes of Auckland Transport, one of this year's Rising Stars, shared how her passion helped her despite challenges.

"When you truly believe in what you are working on, it's so much easier to bring other people on a journey with you. It's the whole heart and mind thinking approach," she told HRD.

Contact Energy's Alecia Thompson, another Rising Star, added how ignorance can also be a superpower.

"Be curious - your superpower is your ignorance in the early days. How many careers do you get the opportunity to help people with a new role or find great people for leaders?" Thompson said to HRD.
