Australia tops list of 'wellbeing burnout zones': global survey

Australia has placed first in the list of top wellbeing burnout zones across the world, according to a new report from Lululemon.

Wellbeing burnout zones are defined by Lululemon as the markets with the "highest levels of burnout when thinking about their physical, mental, or social wellbeing."

Paul Tinkler, Lululemon AU/NZ vice-president, said the findings indicate that the growing pressure among Australians to achieve a perfect state of wellbeing is "having the opposite effect."

"With increasing burnout and feelings of isolation, it's evident that traditional approaches aren't enough," Tinkler said as quoted by the Information Age.

"Our report highlights the urgent need for strategies that foster genuine connections and embrace balanced movement."

The full top five wellbeing burnout zones in Lululemon's global report in 2024 are as follows:

  1. Australia
  2. New Zealand
  3. Canada
  4. Malaysia
  5. United States

According to the report, employees in wellbeing burnout zones are more likely to experience overwhelming societal expectations (+25%).

They are also more likely to face conflicting information (+23%), and more likely to be disconnected from their community (+35%).

Australia's Wellbeing Score
