HR professionals across Asia recognised 27 organisations in 14 categories as scrutiny of HR technology vendors intensifies
HR professionals across Asia have named 27 organisations in 14 categories as winners of the inaugural HRD Asia Readers' Choice 2026 awards, following voting held between 4 and 29 May 2026.
Unlike editorially judged awards, readers decided every result directly. The three nominees with the most votes in each category, including ties, received the Readers' Choice designation.
WTW won two categories, Benefits & Pension Consultant and Compensation Consultant. It was the only winner profiled in the report to do so. Frontier Software was named Readers' Choice for Recruitment Solutions/Software Provider.
The results come as HR leaders apply tougher tests to their service providers. Aon's 2026 Human Capital Trends Study surveyed 504 HR and people leaders across Asia-Pacific (APAC), in markets including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.
It found that 76% of APAC employees say personalised benefits matter to them. Only 22% have access to customisable options, compared with a 33% global average.
Sim Ling Ku is a Malaysia-based trainer accredited by the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRD Corp) and is known as AuntyHR. She said one problem dominates.
"One word is fragmentation," she said. "One system for payroll, another for recruitment, another for performance, another for learning, another for engagement." HRD Asia has previously examined why standalone tech drains workforce productivity across organisations.
Ku also draws a firm line on artificial intelligence (AI). "AI can help organise information and identify patterns, but I would be very uncomfortable telling HR professionals to outsource their judgement to an algorithm," she said. That view matches wider debate over where AI will and will not replace HR management.
Robert Hillard, chief executive officer of Deloitte Asia Pacific, based in Melbourne, Australia, expects buyers to demand evidence. "The providers that stand out will demonstrate measurable outcomes through practical use cases, instead of broad promises about technology," he said.
How the winners earned readers' votes
Eva Liu, head of strategic development, health and benefits, Asia-Pacific at WTW, says the firm's work treats pay and benefits as one connected total rewards strategy. One recent project redesigned family-forming benefits for a multinational tech company across APAC's varied regulatory and cultural markets.
Healthcare costs remain the dominant pressure on clients, a trend reflected in employers tightening their grip on benefits spending across the region.
"It really reflects the trust and the partnership that we have built with the HR community," Liu said of the award.
Frontier Software has built payroll and human capital management (HCM) technology since 1983. Its VCM21 platform brings vacancies, candidates, approvals and recruitment workflows into one experience.
For ISS, a facilities services organisation with more than 15,000 employees across Australia and New Zealand, the company's onboarding and self-service modules cut payroll set-up from days to minutes.
"We are not interested in adding technology for appearance," said Nick Southcombe, chief executive officer of Frontier Software. "Innovation must make payroll and HCM work more useful, reliable, secure and easier to manage."
For Ku, the direction over the next 12 to 24 months is clear. "Simplicity, trust, outcomes will separate the leading providers from the rest," she said.
