The role of AI Engineer has emerged as one of the top jobs across Singapore, according to a new report, as artificial intelligence continues to shake up organisations.

LinkedIn's annual Grads' Guide revealed that AI engineer is officially the most common role for graduates with a Master's degree.

It is also the second-most common role for bachelor's degree holders.

"Artificial Intelligence Engineer is officially the 'it role' for graduates with a Master's degree and landing the #2 spot for Bachelor's degree holders, as the technology continues to shake up the job market and create new roles," LinkedIn said.

The other top job titles in Singapore for bachelor's degree holders are:

  • Legal Associate
  • Pharmacist
  • Marketing Assistant
  • Interior Designer

For Master's degree holders, the other top job titles are:

  • Management Associate
  • Research Engineer
  • Project Manager
  • Data Analyst

AI engineer as the 'it-role'

AI engineer's emergence as one of the top job titles in Singapore indicates the growing adoption of artificial intelligence in workplaces.

Findings from the EY 2024 Work Reimagined Survey showed that 79% of employees are now using gen AI as part of their work, a surge from 24 in 2023.

Nearly three in four (74%) Singaporean employers also recognise generative AI's role in productivity gains, while 70% affirmed its ability to focus on more strategic tasks.

With the widespread adoption of gen AI, 75% of business leaders in Singapore in a HubSpot poll expect their organisations to find a "Head of AI" in the coming months.
