His arrival comes as Proofpoint aims to be a leader in offering people-centric cyber security solutions

Proofpoint names new VP for Southeast Asia and Korea

Cybersecurity organisation Proofpoint has named Evan Dumas as its vice president in the Southeast Asia and Korea (SAK) region.

Proofpoint is a company that helps organisations protect their people from cyber-attacks by offering people-centric security and compliance solutions to safeguard data and prevent targeted threats across email, cloud, social media, and the web.

Dumas' role in the organisation is to position Proofpoint as a leader in people-centric cyber security solutions, as more organisations move to offer flexibility and agility to employees as part of the post-pandemic workplace.

"This is a pivotal time for Proofpoint, especially in the SAK region, as markets continue with recovering, post-pandemic and providing flexibility and agility to their employees," said Dumas in a statement. "It is a great opportunity for me to join a company that is focused on developing security innovations that protect people – wherever they may work – and defend their data from today's fast-evolving cyber threat landscape."

Dumas will be directly reporting to Alex Lei, Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan, who said that Dumas' knowledge in the sector will help the organisation.

"Evan's extensive industry knowledge and experience will allow us to drive further growth across SAK, as we continue to execute on our vision of people-centric security and serve the tremendous market demand for world-class protection against targeted cyber threats," said Lei in a statement.

Dumas has over 20 years of experience in the Silicon Valley prior to his role in Proofpoint. His most recent role saw him leading the enterprise sales team for Asia and India at Pluralsight. Before that, Evan was regional director, Southeast Asia and Korea at Check Point for three and a half years.

His appointment for the role was hailed by other executives within the sector.

"Congratulations to Proofpoint for appointing Evan to lead the SAK region. Evan brings with him a rich heritage of experience in developing teams and achieving sustained revenue growth. We look forward to growing our footprint further with Evan and his team in the SAK region," said Foo Fang Yong, General Manager, M.tech.

Andrew Milroy, founder of Veqtor8, said Dumas' experience will help Proofpoint in assisting organisations as they navigate amid emerging cyber threats from remote work.

"86% of APAC CISOs acknowledge that digital transformation initiatives combined with widespread remote working are expanding attack surfaces and creating too many vulnerabilities therefore, companies in APAC need to develop cybersecurity postures which continuously monitor all data traversing across all systems, networks, and endpoints — while adapting cybersecurity posture to address changing threats, technology mixes, regulations, behaviours, and risk tolerance. Proofpoint, buoyed by Evan's experience is well positioned to help them," said Milroy.
