Recruiters today are time-strapped and tightly resourced. With application volumes surging and candidate expectations continuing to rise, the pressure to move fast and deliver hires without sacrificing quality is tough.
Despite this, much of a recruiter’s day is still consumed by repetitive, time-intensive tasks which pull professionals away from what matters most - building lasting relationships and making great hires. For recruiters, it’s no longer a question of whether AI belongs in the process, but where exactly it should be used and for what larger purpose.
According to LinkedIn, across Southeast Asia AI adoption among recruiting teams is growing, with 29% of organisations now “actively integrating” or “experimenting” with Gen AI tools, in comparison to 37% globally. What’s more a staggering 79% of recruiters agree that AI will fundamentally change the way organisations hire.
Hiring Assistant boosts recruiter productivity by 60-70%
LinkedIn recently launched their new Hiring Assistant - LinkedIn’s first AI agent - a tool designed to help recruiters streamline the hiring process and optimize efficiency. Specifically built to reduce the administrative burden on recruiters, Hiring Assistant automates repetitive sourcing tasks, allowing talent professionals to focus on what they do best - building relationships, offering strategic counsel and delivering a stellar candidate experience.
It was these efficiencies that led security solutions provider Certis to engage with LinkedIn’s AI agent. In a recent interview, Dr Jaclyn Lee, CHRO at Certis, revealed how the new tool has supercharged the way they hire.
“Hiring Assistant helped us move from candidate shortlists that took days to building them in minutes,” she told HRD. “It’s accelerated our speed to hire without compromising on quality. We’ve [also] cut sourcing time by almost a third. That means recruiters spend less time scrolling through profiles, and more time in meaningful conversations with hiring managers.
“Hiring Assistant has freed our Recruiting teams from repetitive tasks, streamlined our processes, and helped us find the right talent faster - giving them space to focus on strategic priorities.”
And the results really do speak for themselves. When used alongside LinkedIn Talent Insights, Hiring Assistant boosted Certis’ recruiter productivity by between 60-70%, streamlining their processes and helping their recruiters find the right talent faster.
“Hiring Assistant surfaced candidates we would have otherwise missed - including niche roles that had been open for months,” added Lee. “That’s the real value: uncovering hidden talent.”
A blend of human and AI intelligence
However, it’s not about replacing the human touch in recruiting but rather elevating it through strategic use of AI and emerging tech. Someone who understands this better than most is Elsie Ng, Director Singapore & Malaysia at LinkedIn Talent Solutions.
“Humans will always be at the center of work, especially when it comes to the hiring process which is all about relationships and people,” added Ng.
This is where the brilliance in LinkedIn’s platforms comes to the surface - a blend of human expertise helped along by innovative AI tools. As Ng told HRD, for talent professionals - with the pace of change accelerating - they have a massive opportunity to help their organizations grow in both of these two areas; AI and human skills.
“Organizations that help their teams build these skills will undoubtedly gain an edge. That’s why we’ve expanded our LinkedIn Learning library to over 1,000 AI courses.”
