Singapore releases public holidays for 2026

Singapore has unveiled the dates of 11 public holidays for 2026, which will include six long weekends.

In a media release, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) outlined the gazetted public holidays:

  • New Year's Day (January 1, Thursday)
  • Chinese New Year (February 17 and 18, Tuesday and Wednesday)
  • Good Friday (April 3, Friday)
  • Labour Day (May 1, Friday)
  • Vesak Day (May 31, Sunday)
  • National Day (August 9, Sunday)
  • Deepavali (November 8, Sunday)
  • Christmas Day (December 25, Friday)

The dates for Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji are set on March 21 and May 27, respectively. MOM, however, said they remain subject to confirmation.

The ministry further stated that if a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be observed as a public holiday. This brings the number of long weekends next year to six.

Employers' holiday obligations

According to MOM, employees covered by the Employment Act are entitled to the 11 paid public holidays.

"Employers and employees may mutually agree to substitute a public holiday for another working day," it said.

Employees who are required to work on a public holiday are entitled to an extra day's salary at the basic rate of pay, on top of their gross rate of pay for the day.

Employers may also grant time-off-in-lieu, based on a mutually agreed number of hours, MOM said. This can be offered to:

  • Workmen earning more than $4,500 a month
  • Non-workmen earning more than $2,600 a month
  • All managers and executives
