New chief people officer part of leadership reshuffle at One NZ
One NZ has named Sonia Fernandes as its chief people officer as part of a leadership reshuffle ahead of Nick Judd taking over as CEO on 31 August.
Fernandes joins One NZ as CPO at the end of August, the telecommunications firm said in an announcement on Tuesday.
According to the firm, Fernandes brings with her more than two decades of experience in leading people and organisational transformation across technology, consulting, media, and professional services.
Her LinkedIn profile shows that her most recent role is at global news firm POLITICO, where she served as global chief human resources officer for more than two years.
She also held people-related positions at media firm WPP and BBC. She also worked for similar roles at KPMG's Australia and Singapore offices.
"Having worked across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, the United States and India, she brings a global perspective, a strong commercial mindset and a passion for building high-performing teams," One NZ said in a statement.
"Welcome to the team, Sonia."
One NZ's leadership reshuffle
Fernandes' appointment is part of a wider leadership reshuffle at One NZ, where Kieran Byrne will become Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Sharina Nisha has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
One NZ said Byrne, who is currently CTO, has a unique combination of commercial, financial, strategic and operational leadership.
"In his new role, the Infrastructure Partners wholesale function will continue to be part of Kieran's expanded portfolio," it said.
Meanwhile, Nisha has more than 30 years of experience across the telecommunications industry, according to One NZ. She is currently serving as its GM Business Transformation, and has led a number of initiatives within the organisation, including its simplification programme (T-One), the launch of One NZ Satellite, and the company's AI implementation.
The executive reshuffle comes ahead of incoming CEO Nick Judd's start on 31 August.
"These appointments demonstrate the continuity in our strategy, while also adding fresh perspectives to our Executive team," Judd said in a statement.
"Promoting from within reflects the strength of our leadership pipeline, and bringing Sonia into the business adds valuable new experience and thinking."
Judd, who served as One NZ's CFO, was named the incoming CEO last month, replacing outgoing chief executive Jason Paris.
