Asia is a hothouse of economic development and innovation. This book attempts to put the region under the microscope and identify the main drivers of change and areas of threat and opportunity, particularly in China and India.

Based on years of observation and close interaction with senior managers in Asia, Inspire to Innovate: Management & Innovation in Asia should help managers of Asian firms with their efforts to anticipate and manage some of the challenges facing their organisations.

These include conflicting supply and demand pressures: China, for example, is emerging as a major supplier of all kinds of goods at a unique price/quality equation, whereas India is becoming a challenging and important force in services.

One of the book’s objectives is to show why innovation is important to the survival and growth of many firms in Asia today. The major Asian financial crisis of 1997-98 triggered a lot of changes to investment levels and regulatory systems. De Meyer and Garg show how future success will depend on the quality of management, not just on the economic policies of Asian firms.

For anyone with a vested interest in an Asian business this could be a worthwhile read, but for anyone else, the dry, heavy text is hard going.
