PwC Australia to offshore 48 EA roles to Philippines

Affected employees to receive redeployment, reskilling, career transition support

PwC Australia to offshore 48 EA roles to Philippines

PwC Australia will be offshoring executive assistant roles to the Philippines in a move that will shift the majority of its EA workforce to Manila, according to reports.

The Big Four firm will shift 48 executive assistant roles to its Manila office, raising the number of Philippine-based EA roles from 38% to 58%.

A spokesperson from PwC told The Australian that the move follows the recommendation of an internal review.

"For the firm to deliver sustainable performance and growth, PwC regularly reviews its operations," the spokesperson told the news outlet.

"We are committed to supporting impacted EAs through redeployment opportunities, providing career transition services, access to reskilling courses, and dedicated wellbeing support throughout this transition."

The Manila operation, in which PwC Australia holds a 27% stake, was established in 2019 under then-chief executive Luke Sayers.

Since that year, all newly appointed partners have been assigned Philippines-based support staff rather than local hires, according to The Australian.

Kevin Burrowes, CEO of PwC Australia, also has some of his internal support staff based in the Manila office.

PwC's offshore move follows that of its fellow Big Four firm, KPMG, which recently moved 200 executive assistant roles to the Philippines as part of a cost-cutting measure.
