New ABS data shows total jobs growth amid rise in filled jobs and drop in vacancies
The number of multiple job holders in Australia exceeded one-million people in the June 2026 quarter, according to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The latest Labour Account Australia from the ABS showed there were 1,049,100 people with multiple jobs in the June 2026 quarter, with the country posting a 6.9% multiple job holding rate.
According to the ABS, the seasonally adjusted number of people with multiple jobs saw a 6.6% quarterly increase, and an 11.0% annual change.
In the June quarter, the number of main jobs increased by 59,200 (0.4%) to reach 15,159,100. Secondary jobs, on the other hand, went up 51,500 (4.6%) to reach 1,163,900.
"The three industries with the highest number of secondary jobs were Health care and social assistance, Administrative and support services, and Education and training," the ABS report read.

Overall, total jobs in Australia increased 0.6% to 16.7 million in the June quarter, according to ABS data.
This comes amid a 110,700 increase of filled jobs to 16.3 million and an 8,800 decline in job vacancies to 333,500.
Hours worked went up 0.4% to 6.1 billion hours, while the average income per employed person reached $26,084.40 after a 0.9% quarterly increase.
