The winner of the $10,000 cash prize has been announced at the National HR Summit at Sydney’s Luna Park. Liza Tong, HR business manager at Uniting took home the money after being drawn out of the ballot at the conclusion of the summit.

Tong told HRD that it’s “such a nice surprise to win the $10,000 prize”.

“It is absolutely fantastic,” said Tong. “I feel really, really lucky to have won.”

Tong added that she loves her role as HR business manager of Uniting and particularly enjoys working closely with people and witnessing firsthand the impact HR has on staff.

“I love the people component of HR,” said Tong. “I’m on the HR corporate side and I love to see the value add we have on the frontline staff.”

Tong told HRD that the National HR Summit has been “really insightful”, having featured some wonderful speakers from Australia and the Asia Pacific.

“It has been really helpful learning about what they are doing and how we can integrate that into our industries.”
