Super Retail Group terminates CEO over alleged relationship with former CHRO

Super Retail Group has terminated chief executive officer Anthony Heraghty, after receiving "new information" about his alleged relationship with the company’s former Chief Human Resources Officer.

"The Board made this decision after receiving new information from Mr Heraghty regarding his relationship with the company's former Chief Human Resources Officer," it said in a statement.

"In light of this new information, the Board has concluded Mr Heraghty’s prior disclosures were not satisfactory.

"The Board has exercised its discretion to lapse Mr Heraghty’s incentives, which includes all unvested incentives and vested but unexercised rights.

"The Board will carefully consider the implications this may have for the company and any related matters," the board said in its statement.

Chief financial officer David Burns will take over as interim CEO while the company searches for a new chief executive.

Heraghty's termination comes as workplace relationships among executives are put into the spotlight.

Earlier this month, Nestlé CEO Laurent Freixe was also fired for an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate.

Former Astronomer CEO Andy Baron also left his post after being caught on a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert with the company's chief people officer.
