With a job market to remain buoyant well into the new financial year, employment firms in the technical sector will be forced to source overseas candidates, according to technical employment firm, TAD. The number of Australian candidates in technical professions such as engineering and those in infrastructure development, construction and design has almost reached capacity, said TAD CEO, Dennis Morgan. A buoyant market in New South Wales is being lead by new infrastructure, retail, commercial and high rise projects in both Government and private sectors, while in Victoria, growth is expected in power transmission and distribution engineering.

WebMCQ rebrands as MCQ international

Online learning provider WebMCQ recently re-branded itself as MCQ International and announced a partnership with the European Centre for Interactive Financial Training (CIFT) to assist companies in complying with International Accounting Standards (IAS32 and IAS39). Listed no. 30 in the BRW Fast 100 hundred 2003, MCQ International says customer acquisition in the financial services sector has been driven by recent financial services reforms, requiring financial services companies to meet compliance initiatives by a 2005 deadline. It said that initiatives such as continuous learning and self development have proven successful for staff retention and motivation.

Accenture named Microsofts global services partner of the year

Microsot recently named Accenture as its 2004 global enterprise services and technology partner of the year. The award was announced at an annual Microsoft worldwide partner conference in Toronto, and Accenture is the only Microsoft partner that has won the award twice. In April 2000, Microsoft and Accenture jointly formed an independent private business called Avanade, enabling joint delivery capabilities. Accenture, Microsoft and Avanade have completed more than 900 projects for businesses and government organisations worldwide through solutions built on the Microsoft platform.
