Coles Myer pulls plug on PeopleSoft HR system

Coles Myer will migrate from its current PeopleSoft HR system to another one as part of a five-year $650 million company-wide IT restructure. While Coles Myer has not formerly announced which system it will migrate to, it is understood to be favouring SAP in a bid to tighten integration with existing SAP business intelligence and financial systems used within Coles Myer. The decision to pull the plug on the PeopleSoft system, which manages up to 180,000 employees, was made before Oracle made its successful bid for PeopleSoft.

Oracle provides PeopleSoft product timeline

Following its takeover of PeopleSoft for approximately US$10.3 (13.5) billion, Oracle recently detailed its product and service support for Oracle, PeopleSoft and JD Edwards customers. Release dates include: PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.9 (2005); Oracle E-Business Suite 12 (2006); PeopleSoft Enterprise 9 (2006); JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 (2006), while ongoing JD Edwards World enhancements planned will be delivered continuously. Oracle will provide support for the PeopleSoft Enterprise, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and JD Edwards World product lines through at least 2013, and extending JD Edwards EnterpriseOne XE and 8.0 support to February 2007.

Mantrack acquires Paywell

Payroll and business process systems company Mantrack recently acquired Paywell Australia, which serves 85 clients across Australia. Mantrack delivers online, bureau and payroll software services along with outsourced logistics, and the merger with Paywell follows Mantrack’s acquisition last year of the former Allegiance group in Victoria. The merger also makes Mantrack the largest user of SAP payroll and HR technology on the Asia-Pacific Rim, with clients including Orica, the ABC, Daimler Chrysler and more than 50 public hospitals on Australia’s East Coast. The company is also a major provider of its Affinity advanced employee information software for in-house or outsourced applications.
