HR leaders 'bring out the best in others every day'

An award-winning HR director shares her secret to transformational leadership

HR leaders 'bring out the best in others every day'

Transformational leaders not only inspire the people that they work with – they also create a lasting impact on the wider community.

Linda Carroll, who was named Randstad Australian HR Director of the Year in 2019, is an example of a leader whose work in HR directly changes lives for the better, both within her company and beyond. Her track record in the education management industry proves this.

As head of People and Culture at Affinity Education Group, Carroll is responsible for the organisation’s strategic and operational direction across the people and culture, quality and education functions. It’s her dedication to the company that inspires change.

For Carroll, how she values education on a personal level translates into how she values continuous learning in her own team, encouraging others to be relentless in sharpening their skills as education and HR professionals. This is what she calls the ‘Affinity Way’ – realising the potential of the people she meets.

“We do our best every day to bring out the best in our teachers, our educators, so they can bring out the best in the children in their care,” Carroll said in accepting her accolade at last year’s Australian HR Awards.

The recognition is given to exceptional HR leaders and teams who break new ground and deliver the highest quality of service to their people.

The categories for 2020 include the Hays Australian HR Team of the Year, Employer of Choice, Australian Rising HR Star of the Year, Best Leadership Development Program and Best Recruitment Campaign award, among others.

Nominations for all categories can be submitted online here until May 1. For more information, visit www.hrawards.com.au
