HR awards draw big guns

Organisers of the 2006 Australian Human Resources Awards have confirmed the addition of several high profile international experts to the judging panel for this year’s event

ORGANISERS OF the 2006 Australian Human Resources Awards have confirmed the addition of several high profile international experts to the judging panel for this year’s event.

Ross Fowler, managing director of IT giant Cisco Systems Australia and Allen Schweyer, Canadian-based president of the Human Capital Institute and Duncan Patterson have been confirmed as head judges for award categories.

Fowler, who joined Cisco after a stint heading Alcatel in Australia and New Zealand, will preside over the HR Partners Award for Best HR Director. Schweyer meanwhile, a widely published author who has developed labour market programs for Industry Canada and the World Bank will head up the panel for the Vurv Award for Best HR Strategic Plan.

The awards recognise excellence across the entire spectrum of HR. New this year will be the award for Best Graduate Intake Program, along with 16 other categories ranging from lifetime achievement and corporate citizenship, to the best HR team and the CEO award for Best HR champion.

Widely recognised as the HR benchmarking event of the year, the awards fill an important gap in providing an opportunity for individuals, teams and organisations to come together to recognise and celebrate HR as a profession.

Organised by the HR industry’s leading fortnightly magazine, Human Resources, and sponsored by Aon, the awards will culminate in a gala ceremony in Sydney on 15 September 2006.
