Coffee but no pay for unpaid Queensland Health workers

Queensland Health employees affected by ongoing payroll disruption have been thanked for their patience and cooperation with a free cup of coffee. While the pay fiasco has seen thousands of workers receive little or no pay over recent weeks, the Gold Coast health district offered them a "complimentary regular coffee, tea or hot chocolate", The Courier Mail reported. Staff were told the $3.20 drink was thanks for being "exceptionally patient and understanding" during the fiasco. But within an hour of the first memo promising free coffee, staff were issued a follow-up email warning that complimentary coffee was limited to one per person. "This is necessary to reduce queuing," the memo reportedly explained.
