Although respondents to the latest CEO Financial Index remain bullish about business prospects for2010, only 20 per cent gave full support to a renewed parental leave campaign.

CEO Institute’s Queensland CEO, Sue Forrester said that the qualitative answers to the survey indicated that it was not parental leave in itself that they opposed, rather the specific proposal put forward by the Federal Opposition.

The breakdown of responses was 28 per cent strongly disapproved to the proposal, 31 per cent disapproved, 13 per cent approved and only 7 per cent strongly approved.

The index also revealed a significant increase among CEOs in the intention to invest and expectations of higher profits.

82 per cent of leaders thought the economy was going in the right direction, 61 per cent expect to be hiring, 63 per cent expect to be investing and 56 per cent expect higher profits.
