Amazon has announced that it will be hiring more than 40,000 new employees for its upcoming Career Day on September 15. The e-commerce company said in a media release that corporate and tech roles will be open across over 220 locations in the United States, as well as "tens of thousands of hourly positions in Amazon's Operations network."
The company's virtual event will also be open to everyone, regardless of level of experience, professional field, or background.
"Amazon continues to grow quickly and relentlessly invent across many areas, and we're hoping that Career Day gives both job seekers and current Amazon employees the support they need to learn new skills or reimagine their careers at Amazon or elsewhere," said Amazon chief executive officer Andy Jassy in a statement.
Amazon stated that working for the full-time for the company includes various benefits, such as receiving paid time off, up to 20 weeks of parental leave, as well as career-advancement opportunities, among others.
"In addition, front-line employees start at more than twice the federal minimum wage, with an average starting salary of $17/hour," the company said in its media release.

Career Day 2021
Aside from the hiring blitz, Amazon also tapped on 1,200 recruiters to conduct 20,000 free one-on-one career-coaching sessions with jobseekers. Additional sessions will also be provided to participating employees, who will be given advice on the company's upskilling programmes to further their careers.
Jassy will also be sharing his own career experience during the virtual event, which will also see the attendance of David Epstein, author of Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World, and Carla Harris, vice chairman of global wealth management and senior client advisor at Morgan Stanley.
In addition, the company will also be giving attendees coding workshops that are spearheaded by Amazon's software development engineers. A breakout session led by two senior recruiters will also be provided to participants.
The event will be for free and interested applicants may register here. Last year's Career Day saw the highest one-week number of job applicants in Amazon's history, according to the company.
