Apathy, literacy or truth? part 2

I refer to the item submitted by Stuart Fagg in the 25 July edition of Human Resources, ‘Apathy, literacy or truth?’ (Issue 109, p5). Stuart, may I suggest that there is a fourth possible explanation for the lack of response to your deliberate baiting of HR people, in your suggestion that HR salaries have risen even though staff retention is not improving. That explanation is that your comments don’t warrant informed debate! People don’t leave organisations because of the HR staff – they leave because of the quality of leadership shown by their line managers and leaders. HR provides the tools and strategies for managers to use, but they cannot be held accountable when these tools and strategies are not utilised. Might I suggest you concentrate on your Risk Management magazine and leave HR to those who know what they are talking about.
