Tech firm Skillsoft appoints new chief people officer

Skillsoft, a leader in corporate digital learning has appointed Kristi Hummel as its chief people officer. Hummel brings with more than 25 years of experience leading people strategies for global technology companies. She shared with HRD that she’s most looking forward to enhancing Skillsoft’s employee experience and culture in her new role.

“The modern workplace has undergone a massive digital shift over the last 18 months,” Hummel said. “While this hybrid model has presented its challenges, it has also provided a valuable opportunity for all organisations – Skillsoft included – to rethink how they optimise the employee experience.

Prior to this, Hummel had served as a senior vice president of HR at Dell Technologies, where she led the organisation’s talent and culture. She also had led Dell’s global HR team and handled people-related matters for several functions including Dell’s services and digital, marketing, and chief customer office organisations. Hummel has also managed the merger between Dell and EMC Corporation, where she led organisation design, change management and culture integration.

Before that, Hummel was chief HR officer at VCE, a high-growth networking company. She had also served at vice president, HR operations at EMC, where she led multiple merger and acquisition integrations. Outside of work, Hummel serves on the board of trustees for Boston’s Museum of Science as chair of the compensation committee and co-chair of the DEI taskforce.
